YouTube is like Santa’s bag - there’s something in it for everybody! 

The Google-owned online video platform is the one-stop solution for most people - whether they want to learn something, watch cat videos, laugh, cry or watch mindless stuff that doesn’t require you to move a muscle. 

Over the years, YouTube has become one of the best platform for those who seek fame and money. YouTube celebs have amassed fanbases next in size only to Hollywood and Bollywood. 

In this article, we are going to talk about some engineers who are very successful YouTubers. 

1. TVF Guys 

TVF was started by Arunabh Kumar in 2010 with the goal of entertaining youngsters who disliked regular television. It was founded by IIT alumni, Arunabh Kumar, Amit Golani, and Biswapati Sarkar. 

It is best known for the web series - The Permanent Roommates and TVF Pitchers, and one of the most sought-after creators of original content with brands in India. It boasts of over 3.8 million subscribers (and counting) on YouTube. 

2. Shruti Arjun Anand 

In 2011, an Indian girl, working in the US, decided to try her luck on YouTube by making videos on fashion, skin & hair care, make-up, etc. Today, she is the favorite influencer for companies like Nykaa, Lakme and LA Girl. Shruti Anand, an ex-IT professional, caters to fashion and make-up advice needs of Indian women. 

Shruti has grown through her persistence and dedication. She uploads new videos every Monday and Friday. She has 1.5 million subscribers on YouTube and even motivated her techie husband to quit his job and join her in this field. 

3. Pretentious Guys 

No points for recognising them. Kanan Gill and Biswa Kalyan Rath reshaped the way we look at our favorite movies from childhood with their pretentious movie reviews. Both of them are engineers and were working as engineers in Bangalore when they started doing Pretentious Movie Reviews. 

While they started out together under Kanan’s channel, shortly after their success, Biswa started writing and producing channels for his own YouTube channel. Currently, they have 632,000 and 456 K subscribers respectively. They also feature in other YouTube channels. 

4. Ranjit Kumar 

When I first encountered Geeky Ranjit, it was when some millennial coders were mocking him for his style of talking. It was only a matter of time before I realised that he is the torch bearer of millions of Indians who want honest and unbiased reviews of mobile phones and electronic gadgets. 

He is often cited as one of the top 10 YouTubers in India. As we write this article, he is fast approaching the 2 million mark of subscribers on his YouTube channel. 

5. AIB guys 

Any list of YouTubers is incomplete without this name. Not only are 2 of the 4 owners, Rohan Joshi and Ashish Shakya engineers, but 4 of their 5 head writers, Girish Narayandas, Deviah Bopanna, Puneet Chadha and Vishal Dayama are also engineers. 

AIB was started in 2012 and currently boasts of 3.2 million subscribers. They have leveraged their fanbase on YouTube to organize some of the most successful and spoken-about comedy events in the country - including, but not limited to, the Roast.

According to YouTube India, in the recent years, there has been nothing less than 80% year-on-year growth in terms of viewers as well as total viewing time. Vernacular content creators have also been warmly received by the viewers.
