There are many ‘clusters’ of income streams that you might want to focus upon rather than all the specific ones.
1. Income through advertising
Many bloggers start here. It’s similar to how the print medium makes money – you sell a space in your blog, you get money. As your traffic and brand grows you’ll find advertisers will be willing to pay to get exposure to your audience.
While you need decent traffic to do a direct deal with advertisers for beginners, use ad networks like Google AdSense to start. Google AdSense acts as a middleman and enables smaller publishers to run ads on their blogs.
2. Income through affiliation with brands
To put it most simply – affiliate income is when you link to a product that is for sale on another site (take Flipkart for example) and if someone follows your link and ends up buying that product you earn a commission on that sale.
You have to signup for affiliate programs. If you’re able to engage your audience with your content, overtime they will follow the recommendations that you make on products.
3. Income through subscription
If your blog is of very high quality, you can demand money for selective content.
This is where readers pay a regular recurring amount (usually on a monthly or annual basis) for access to premium content.
4. Blog as a promotion platform
Many businesses use blogs to support their businesses. This is an indirect way to make money, by using their blogs to grow their profile and direct readers to their business.
5. Services
As an expert, you can offer individual services to readers. These might be anything from coaching and consulting, to writing or copywriting, design work, training or other freelance services.
6. Diversify into Products
Many bloggers sell merchandise like tshirts, mugs, hoodies. And if your blog is established, people will be more willing to buy merchandise from you.
