What do you think about the apple's 2017 special event & the startegy behind the iphone 10 ?

    12:56 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Strategy: To differentiate it from other iPhones in a distinct manner: 1. Facial recognition instead of Touch 2. Edge to edge display 3. No home button 4. More powerful It seems they have differentiated it. Always remember 'differentiation' is a key strategic initiative every Brand manager should strive for!

    01:00 PM

  • Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Friends - strategy is about differentiation - how your brand is different than competitor! Greater the degree of differentiation - on desirable dimensions - better will be your brands ability to command price premium!

    01:01 PM

  • Profile Picture Miti Vaidya

Sir, but how does that explain the success of a brand like OnePlus? For example, I recently purchased a OnePlus5, which is like the iPhone7Plus on almost all parameters. So, its not really differentiated, is it? And yet, it seems to do really well.

What do you think about the apple's 2017 special event & the startegy behind the iphone 10 ?

    12:56 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Deepanshu - Special Event ! Apple may have the following objective : 1. PR - To get media to write / cover it 2. Buzz: Get customers talking about it. 3. Digital Platform: Gets covered in Digital media! Result: Apple does not have to spend money in paid advertising ... PR, Buzz, Digital media does it for them.

    01:07 PM

  • Profile Picture karan.shah

Sir, How do old brands like parle stay relevant today?

    01:04 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Karan, by periodically refreshing them with 'things that are relevant today' - it can be at multiple level: 1. Refresh Pack 2. Come up pack variations - 3. Run a new media campaign which appeals to the people of today!

    01:07 PM

Hello Sir, how can small companies that are into technology, like data science, build a brand for themselves?

    01:10 PM

  • Profile Picture Adarsh Adwait

Sir, where do you place Patanjali in today's market competing with giants like HUL and P&G and its future prospects ?

    01:11 PM

  • Profile Picture p17mohnish

sir what would you say brand like MI..

    01:07 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

MI is a great brand. But they seemed to have changed strategy of late - which worries me! When introduced 1. It was only available only online ... now they have opened offline store. 2. Earlier they did not run after sales ... now they run after sales! Because of change in strategy I am not confident how it will do in the medium to long run! Reason: If companies run after sales than they loose sight of customers! When customers are neglected they may dessert thwm

    01:11 PM

  • Profile Picture Megha Aggarwal

hello sir, i am a manufacturer of power tools as elmico power tools like blowers, drill machines. most of the demand in industry and some percentage of domestic.... we have no competitors in india but only from chinese products but our price lower than chinese. We want to perform some marketing so as to increase the demand of them at the retailers. right now we are doing online marketing only through portals like indiamart , industrybuying etc

    01:12 PM

  • Profile Picture p17mohnish

sir how does after sale loose sight of customers.

  • Profile Picture Adarsh Adwait

Sir, where do you place Patanjali in today's market competing with giants like HUL and P&G and its future prospects ?

    01:11 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Now there is no difference between how Patanjali approaches business or HUL or P&G. All of them are running to grow their business! 1. When the sight is on sales & profit then customers take a back seat. 2. Then companies start focusing , on what competition is doing rather than trying to understand how to delight the customers. This is what Patanjali s doing! I feel sad! In due course it will face the same challenges that HUL / P&G is facing!

    01:16 PM

sir can you throw some light regarding bamboo products in furniture industry... how is it doing...what brands are leading..how to go abt if we want to grow in this area.

Sir , is it possible for a new player to enter into existing cab-aggregator market to compete with the likes of Uber and Ola and establish itself as a brand ?

    01:18 PM

  • Profile Picture p17mohnish

sir how does after sale loose sight of customers.

    01:14 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Because many companies look upon serving customers - after the product is sold as a cost - therefore they reluctantly invest in providing great after sales service! Result - Companies look upon after sales service as an expense & end up frustrating the customers more!

    01:19 PM

Sir , is it possible for a new player to enter into existing cab-aggregator market to compete with the likes of Uber and Ola and establish itself as a brand ?

    01:18 PM

Of course ...globally many players have entered the market & doing well! 1. Lyft 2. Taxify These brands can enter India too!

    01:20 PM

Sir, what are the points to be kept in mind while drafting a campaign for a brand?

    01:23 PM

    01:23 PM

  • Profile Picture p17mohnish

sir brand like lyft and taxify have alot of fund to support but what abt indian brands who have comparatively less funding

    01:17 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Bamboo products have a great future because they are eco friend. Increasingly customers voting with their wallet for eco friendly product. IKEA which has entered Indian Market is also looking at stocking eco friendly merchandise & bamboo furniture is on there agenda! Bottom line: Great future! Your strategy: Position it as 'Eco Friendly' furniture!

Goodevening Sir, My question to u is with so many blogs growing like weeds in a field what can new bloggers do to make a break through in the market and make their blog a hit? What marketing strategies can be adopted especially if the blog talks about short stories, poems basically a writer's musings

    01:24 PM

  • Profile Picture p17mohnish

bamboo products are costlier comparatively and aesthetics wise also these are not comparable in f=existing furniture market...do you feel that positioning ecofriendly will work....will indian consumer pay ..

But Sir, these are regional competitors of Uber . They don't have global presence . So it would be tough for them to enter a new market , isn't it ?

    01:23 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Adarsh, 1. Lyft & Taxify are not clones of Uber. They have identified the pain point of of drivers & riders & have attempted to solve them! 2. In China a local brand - Didi -has beaten Uber - result - Uber has extended hands of peace with them! Even in India - it seems that Ola is ahead in Market Share terms!

    1. Get your community on Social media involved: Ask them on what topics they want you to write on - story / poems 2. Seek feedback from them 3. Once they share there preference / feedback respond to each one of them & deliver to them! Result: It will then not be "your' blog it will be 'our' blog! This sense of ownership can make a difference!

Sell 'benefits' not 'features' of your power tools! Take a drilling machine! People do not buy drilling machine - they buy a 2 inch hole! Bottom line: People do not features but benefits! Give customers what they want!

    01:38 PM

    Profile Picture Rajesh Srivastava

Neelima - it is very risky! Good forbid if something happened to the person then what will happen to the brand & the company he stands for! Take cricket - we were so dependent on Sachin that as soon as he got out ... you know what happened. Therefore Opposition team used to focus on getting Sachin out ... But in case of Patanjali, realising the risk, the advertising also focus on Baba Ramdev's partner Shri Balakrishna!

Focus all the energy on ensuring that that the product is so good that its customers become its salesman! Examples of brands whose salespeople we all may have inadvertently become: 1. Google, Twitter, Dropbox, FB ...the list is long! Bottomline: If your product is good then it will sell itself! In Silicon Valley this strategy is called - Growth Hacking!

We launch brands for our customers ..we should get insight by engaging with them if they are ready to accept a new 'offering'! Take Diet Cola. When it was launched in 1990s in India it failed because 'health' was not a key issue! People wanted 'tasty' drinks - even if it was unhealthy! If Diet Cola (Brand: DO IT) had taken trouble to understand the customers it would have been apparent that the market is not ready for a diet product!
