i am an from IIT Kanpur and want to pursue certifications in finance domain like CFA,FRM . what will be ideal time to appear for CFA level 1 and FRM level 1. I will appear for CAT 2019 . But as CFA can only be given in final year. Should i prepare for CAT and CFA at the same time ?

See if you can prepare simultaneously well and good. Ideally if you have CFA L1, it will help you in summer placements once you join a B school. If you can't manage both, stick to CAT prep I would suggest.

i have done two FLIP certifications (finance basics and equity research) . Are the FLIP certifications recognized by the interview panels across companies and for the IIM interviews ?

See CFA is of course highly valued. For summers and even IIM selections FLIP will give you a slight edge as it shows you have interest in fin.

Hi, initially I would say focus on all topics given in CAT syllabus. However in general many questions come from number system, geometry, PnC etc. But then again the division of questions keeps changing. Best is to focus on all topics

How much did you practice? It is a tough section without a doubt. Try to do different types of questions when you practice. Keep a tab on time you take to solve them. Begin with most easy ones. Will give you confidence

Begin mild prep after june I would say. If you are weak in any particular area begin now if you have time. Do give Cat 18 to get some idea.
