It depends, it would be sensible if: 1. You want to add things to your skills set (learn marketing, finance etc) 2. Not happy with your current job and want to move into consulting, analytics etc 3. You want to shift your domain entirely, suddenly you have realized that finance is more fun around 90% MBAs in india were engineers so its really a very normal thing

I'm a commerce student, pursuing CA. Are there a good number of CAs in IIM K? Could you share if no. of attempts taken to become a CA matter while considering your profile for admission in IIM K?

there are around 4 CAs in my batch alone and around 7-10 CAs in the 2nd year batch. No the no of attempt does not matter. Just get a decent percentile, IIMs give higher weightage to non-engineers and CAs are in high demand nowadays .

What are the prospects of PGDBA course offered jointly by IIM-C, ISI, IIT kgp? Between a PGDM course offered by IIMs and the above PGDBA which one would you prefer ?

I have a job in hand of well reputed production firm. Being a non IIT GEM, what is beneficial in terms of learning and placement at iims? Joining as a fresher or after work ex?

If you are: 1. Happy with your job in terms of the work that you are doing 2. even 50% satisfied with the salary 3. Have no plans of changing your domain Then its better not to go for an MBA. In the other case understand that after doing an mba you gain a holistic understanding of how businesses work and if you are doing it from the top-15 institutes then you will definitely get a much higher pay package. It will be beneficial in both cases, fresher or after workex.

Another thing I want to know is that, after my training I will be asked to prioritise field of interest among supply chain management, sales& marketing, R&d, production etc. If I have made up my mind to do MBA, which field will be beneficial in terms of prelearning for MBA?

Thats a great question, but also tough to answer. If you have an inclination towards any particular field then pick that. Otherwise try to learn supply chain management, production because it is tough to learn without implementing it in the real world. While sales&marketing you can anyways through the committees and clubs at IIMs. Although consult someone else as well for this one.

Hi Karan, I'm an Engineering graduate working in a banking sector. Preparing for CAT, having inclined towards Management studies, will it evokes a problem in IIM Calls. As my working area is entirely different sector from qualifications.

No it wont, its perfectly normal to have a profile like this. leverage it by saying that you have knowledge related to different domains
