Ideally, the preparation that you do for aptitude section for CAT or XAT should be enough for you to give your MICAT. However, for General Awareness , you should cover more topics that include Business and Marketing Awareness as well. And the descriptive section usually judges your ability to ideate and express your ideas in a limited words and limited time.

No there is no emphasis placed on Academic Grades. At the GEPI stage, to get a final offer letter, weightage is only given to your MICAT score, your GEPI scores, as well as, your CAT/XAT/GMAT scores.
