Actually I gave the NMAT and couldn't perform well in DI have planned the second attempt in 15 days how can I improve in all the sections and specifically in DI? What should be my action plan in these 15 days to crack 210.

Hi Aditya. DI in NMAT comes along with quant. is quant your area of strength?

    04:52 PM

  • Profile Picture Aditya Mehra

    No not at all.

    04:52 PM

I had planned to fare well in Verbal but Verbal was so tough in my set so couldn't perform at all. Did well in LR only.

The Oliveboard mocks are also not near to the actual paper and the DI is very easy in the mocks. How do I prepare for the actual paper in all the sections and specifically DI?

    04:54 PM

Its important to do equally well in DI and quant. 2-3 sets of DI, depending upon the number of questions, would be good. Say a set of 4 questions and you attempt 3 of them and get 12 questions right then you could focus on quants. Also depends on the number of sets you have in DI. If the paper contains 4 sets then try attempting at least 3 sets right, and then divert your attention towards quant

    04:54 PM

Take both Oliveboard and time mocks

    04:54 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

Also practise hard. Everyday practise 4-8 DI sets specifically for NMAT

    04:55 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

NMAT is a time based exam, so you need to be quick and at the same time sharp

    04:55 PM

and only practise would help you do that

If one books his 2nd attempt on 1st December considering after 15 days he can give an attempt so would there be slots available for 17th and 18th December assuming I'll book the last attempt on 2nd December itself.

    04:56 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

As far I remember, you cannot answer twice in the same window. Only one attempt per window is permitted.

    04:57 PM

what should be the order of sections?

    04:58 PM

  • Profile Picture Aditya Mehra

The window would change December 1 is window 4 and December 16 is Window 5

what should be the order of sections?

    04:58 PM

    Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

The order depends solely on your strength. I generally would begin with LR, then Quant and DI and English in the end cause my strength lied in those areas. If you are strong in LA, you might as well start with it and the same applies to quant.

I gave my nmat on 6th Nov and it didn't go too well because I found quant to be tough and I am expecting around 190, so is there any normalisation and that would help and incase of retake does the difficulty level of the exam increase during the last window's??

Regarding the retake, the difficulty level of the exam is similar in all the windows. In my retake last year I scored 4 marks more because of better preparation

In mocks i'm lagging speed and accuracy in VA section and unable to attempt the RC questions which i prefer it to solve at last . How to rectify ? My order of section is same as yours.

Also you best score would be considered

Okay. I used to read 6-7 good articles each day. Editorials from Hindu and from the articles from my mocks. Try making this a time based activity. Simultaneously learnt new words. 20-30 min each day, and simultaneously find out their synonyms. and antonyms Parajumbles and other areas of vocab I used to dedicate at least 45 minutes each day

    05:07 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

This was the strategy I followed.

    05:07 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

Also it is very important to analyse your mocks.

    05:07 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

That is when you will know, where you are actually going wrong.

    05:08 PM

  • Profile Picture Sumangal Kamath

Your mocks in itself will have so many practise questions.

    05:08 PM

The mocks I had taken for NMAT were from oliveboard and TIME

KK thanks for helping out with this. VA is my weak section so, whether is it good to go for it at last or should be attempted at first?

Again it depends. If I'm not wrong you have 22 minutes to answer VA right? I generally kept it towards the end because I could focus all my attention there, as I was done with the other 2 sections. However some also follow the strategy of starting with VA, with a fresh mind. I suggest you try out both the strategies in your mocks or some other combination other than these 2. Whatever works best for you, try using that. I'd ideally do that.
