Which areas are emphasized in the G. K. Section ?

    04:29 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Hello Shivika, brands are emphasized in GK. Bit of current affairs too

    04:32 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Read up about all the brands that you come across daily. There were questions on economic times hindu as brands, there were questions on large conglomerates AD campaigns etc

Good evening ma'am! What is the GE process like ?

    04:34 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Ma'am, How is mica different from conventional B-schools?

    04:36 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

The GE process is anything unlike a typical GD. In GE you will be made into groups of members and given a problem statement that you have to tackle.creativity group behavior, execution skills are adjudged here

MICA is a Institute known for marketing and communication specialization. Theirs is a focused course in marketing and communications whereas other bschools offer the chance to specialize in various domains of management

Ma'am what should be the score in micat so that one stands a high chance in getting a call ?

    04:41 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

    Minimum score*

    04:41 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

The cutoff varies every year it would be difficult to predict the cut off for this year since cat/xat score has been given 50% weightage in GEPI shortlisting

    04:44 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Ma'am on their site, it is mentioned that only 30% weightage would be given ?

    04:45 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

For GEPI shortlisting 50% MICAT score and rest 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT score is going to be considered, for final merit list selection post the GEPI process CAT/XAT/GMAT weightage is 20%

Ma'am what would be your overall strategy to acquire a seat at mica pgdm-c 2018-20. Also, what do they see in a candidate during the ge as well as pi and how can we maximize our chances to get selected.

    04:50 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

P.s sorry for asking too many questions :P but I really really want to be their :D

    04:51 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

    There*

    04:53 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

I found MICA's quantitative aptitude and verbal sections to be decently doable. But GK, Convergent and Divergent questions section can be quite tricky. The writing section can also determine if you would be successful or no. I would suggest you to practise writing. For GE you should be able to do quick thinking on your feet.

I'm a CA Final student, could you guide me on the weightage of 10/12/undergrad in selections?

    04:58 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

MICA doesn't have any weightage for 10/12 marks in their selection process

    04:59 PM

  • Profile Picture Hopeful Aspirant

    Not even in shortlisting?

    04:59 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

    Not even graduation ?

    04:59 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

    No weightage for undergrad too

    04:59 PM

  • Profile Picture Hopeful Aspirant

    Thats really great

    04:59 PM

Ma'am what do they actually look for in a candidate in their PI

    05:00 PM

Please refer to the above link for details about the various stages of the exam

Which area one should give more focus upon? Quant/Logic/DILR?

    05:01 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

In my opinion any institute would look for a candidate who is genuinely interested in pursuing their course. If you are able to convince the panel of the same, you should be in.

    05:02 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

I have heard that micat doesn't have sectional cut off for cat/cat scores? I hope it is true?

    05:03 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

There's nothing mentioned about CAT sectional scores in their website. I am sorry but I don't know any more than what's mentioned in their official website

    05:05 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Ma'am how was your tenure at mica ?

    05:11 PM

  • Profile Picture Raghav Goel

What kind of expectations does the interview panel have in PI from a prospective candidate.

    05:12 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

That's the funny part, I got admission in MICA and TISS. I chose to study in TISS

    05:12 PM

  • Profile Picture Kandha Raj

    Fat girl

    05:13 PM

  • Profile Picture Kandha Raj

    Hello Sasi Priya

    05:13 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Hello Raghav, the interview panel would expect the prospective candidates to be familiar with the course being offered, basics of marketing, and the opportunities that come with doing a masters in that course.

    05:15 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Oh wow! :) I am studying for these two entrances only :)

    05:15 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

But confused, should I pursue marketing or HR

    05:16 PM

  • Profile Picture Kandha Raj

Since you are from TISS, can you tell us how MICA is better than TISS

    05:16 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

That should be a personal call. The choice was quite hard for me, both are really good colleges and I had a decent interest in both the domains..

    05:17 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Ma'am why did you choose tiss over mica ?

    05:18 PM

  • Profile Picture Raghav Goel

    Thanks.

    05:19 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Comparing MICA and TISS would be like comparing apples and oranges. Both the colleges are best at the courses they offer

    05:19 PM

  • Profile Picture Raghav Goel

Maam how was your interview experience at mica if you could elaborate a bit .

    05:20 PM

  • Profile Picture Akshita Sharma

Yes ma'am what did you get for ge and what were the questions like for your pi ?

    05:21 PM

  • Profile Picture siddharthamajji

Hello Sasi Priya! Hope you're doing great!! Just a quick check, I'm not that great in QA, will this decrease my chances of cracking MICA?

    05:23 PM

  • Profile Picture siddharthamajji

And I came to know from previous conversation in this chat window, you told that CAT score will be given weightage upto 50% . Is that mandatory to score well in CAT to get into MICA? One personal ask, may I know your CAT percentile (This would help me to get motivated) Thanks :)

    05:25 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

My interview in MICA was completely profile based. They asked me about my hobbies, gave me a situation based question. MICA interviews are known to be informal and very warm. But they are rigorous at the same time

    05:28 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Siddharth the QA difficulty level is not that high, with sufficient practise you should be able to do well in QA. if QA is your weak area to compensate for it you will have to perform better in other sections

    05:29 PM

  • Profile Picture siddharthamajji

    Thank You! :)

    05:30 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

Siddharth, In 2016 when I wrote the exam CAT score didn't have a weightage, and this is the first year they have introduced the weightage hence I am not in a position to answer your question, sorry.

    05:30 PM

  • Profile Picture Sasi Priya Byra

I chose TISS over MICA due to a lot of personal reasons. I would peg both the colleges equally in terms of resources and opportunities. Both are great Institutes to be a part of
