If you mean CAT as an exam, then experience does not play any role in here. It will play a role in the admission process though. A few colleges, like IIM Bangalore, give significant weight to your work experience, but it's not a requirement. Also, relevance of the work experience is as important as the quantity.

Hello Sir I wanted to ask if I have a job experience in industry for about 2 years what leverage does it give me

Also does my MBA scope become limited to Operations or HR if I'm a process engineer or someone with that kind of profile ? Or after 2 years I can change my field to Finance and get recruited accordingly

The direct advantage will be some marks in the admission process of a few colleges. You are a ripe candidate for most of the colleges, which consider 2-3 years of work exp as ideal. An indirect advantage, which you will observe during your MBA is better understanding of a few subjects.

Being a first-year MBA student, I might not be the right person to answer that question. But to best of my knowledge, I'd say that you can apply to the marketing department of any company. Plus, you might want to consider advertising agencies, like Ogilvy Mather etc.

Your scope won't be limited to Ops or HR. You can choose whichever field you may like to, but you might have to struggle a bit there.

You have very bright chances. In fact, being a non-engineer, you'll have a dual advantage. One: cutoffs of various colleges will be a bit lower for you and Two: you'll be able to score higher in the first term at least, as some of the subjects in the first term will be very familiar to you.

I have heard that its little easy for engineering students to clear CAT than others? Is it true? What should I practice more?

It's true and false at the same time. Being an engineer, we have slight advantages over others, cause we are 'supposedly' good at quants and LR. While the LR part was true in my case, but I was very poor in quants though. Also, engineers have to face very hight cutoffs, so that's a very big disadvantage that we have. I'll ask you to concentrate on your weak area, may it be quants or VA/RC or DI/LR. Give enough time to it, and you'll sail through.

Don't worry. You'll get several opportunities in a B-school to fill your CV. And you might have to dig a bit into your past to find a few points, like the scholarship you achieved in your 7th std, or the badminton tournament you won in your 8th, etc. And trust me, you'll be able to fill your CV without many problems.

Now that's a question that you need to ask yourself. I am pursuing an MBA, coz I wish to start something of my own in future, and I realised that I need business end of the knowledge for it. People usually do it for various reason, like career progression, career switch or plainly for a high-paying job. You need to find your own reason.

sir i have been in the core field from the last months. can you please tell me how does this answer sound? "I have seen engineers with sound knowledge faltering when it comes to presenting themselves,i have met people who rue because they could not become head because of their lack of exposure to skills like team management, time management and adaptibility and somewhere deep down i have found myself too to be lacking in those skills. While pursuing my MBA i wish to develop these skills which would help me contribute more to any organisation i work for.

If I am not wrong, you are mentioning that you want to learn skills like presentation, time management, team management, adaptability, etc, which form just a small part of an MBA. I'll recommend you to find a few more skills to fit in this answer or align the answer to your future goals etc.
