    12:43 PM

  • Profile Picture

Sir as you said that 4-5 hours daily to be put into for cat preparation so my question is that how many rc should be solved daily and how many questions of quant and dilr should be solved

    12:43 PM

  • Profile Picture Mehul Pruthi

Please suggest some strategies for working professionals as it is difficult to extract 4-5 hrs from daily routine

    12:43 PM

  • Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

Mayank, you should target atleast 98%ile this time to do justice to the 92%ile of last year and its opportuniites you might have left out. To get this score, you will have to spend most of the remaining months on 1. Mock writing and analysis, 2. Focusing on areas that are important in each section ; RC for English, Numbers, Geometry, T&D, T&W, Functions, Basic Arithmetic (percentages, P&L, SICI etc), P&C, Averages and Progressions without fail.

    12:44 PM

  • Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

For your DILR, solve a minimum of 3 sets each of DI and LR every day without fail

    12:44 PM

  • Profile Picture

    And for quant and rc?

    12:45 PM

  • Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

Working professionals - wake up early! no other options. Sleep for 5 hours if you are currently sleeping for 8. Use those extra 3 hours. Do not keep things for night. It wont work.

    12:45 PM

  • Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

Do atleast one hour of RC every day. That should be around 6 sets of RC and analysis. Another 1.5 hour of DILR and 1.5 hour of Quant.

    12:46 PM

  • Profile Picture purvisoni4

What about study material and also is it advisable to take coaching at this stage?

    12:52 PM

    Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

If you are weak in quant, do not expect to outperform everyone in quant. That is overambitious. You should focus on getting the cutoff in quant and focus on maximising your score in the other section which you are good. For quant cutoff, you should be able to attempt around 18 questions with around 80% accuracy. The topics i mentioned in earlier chat

Thanks you srinivas sir for advising me in this crucial moment like as you said about 1.5 hour for dilr, 1.5 for quant and 1 hour for rc and analysis, so sir the number of hours in each quant,Dilr and rc should be increased systemically or should for rest 3.5 months 4-5 hours per day strategy should be kept, if I start just now?

  • Profile Picture Sai Krish

sir, how to improve score in RC/VA?

    12:53 PM

    Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

Do around 6 RC every day and then analyze where you are making mistakes. This should be done without fail daily. For VA, try doing the below daily - 10 Para Jumbles, 5 Sentence Completion, 5 Para Summary and look at your mistakes.

    12:55 PM

    12:50 PM

    Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

This depends on how good are you in basic english, math and logic. Frankly, if you are above average, then a rigorous 3 month preparation (around 5-6 hours per day) should make you get good percentile. But if you are bad in math then getting the said percentile this year is difficult.

    12:57 PM

    1. Take topic wise tests every day 2. Take sectional tests once every 3 days. (so daily one sectional test and cycle of 3 days) 3. Do not spend more than 1.5 min in any question in the test. So this way, even if you pick the difficult question , you will leave it soon and will be left with time for easy ones.

You should try both in mocks. Try 3 each and see which one is working for you. Strategies are individual specific. What works for me might not work for you. Hence you should try both and fix on the one that is working

When to start writing mocks and what is the best way to analyse them

    01:18 PM

    Profile Picture Srinivas Akkapeddi

You should have already started writing mocks. If not, start today. Analysis should be on - 1. Time spent on unanswered questions and why 2. Did you attempt all easy ones? if not why? 3. Did you get all easy ones attempted right? if not why? 4. Are you losing marks in your strength areas? if yes why? 5. Identify your weak areas and figure out are you wasting time here?

First you should get into the habit of spending 5-6 hours daily. This should be split as 1.5 for LRDI, 1.5 for Quant and 2 for VARC. You should spend next 2 months on one complete round of going through all topics. But also keep writing 1-2 mocks a week and analyze every mock on the points i mentioned in another answer
