Hello Arun, In the remaining days, focus on your strength areas, which you can identify through analysis of mocks. Make notes/formulae/concepts in your own handwriting, in a language you understand. Revise them before going to bed every night. Regarding verbals, please do not concentrate only on RCs. Diversify your risks, as we can never be sure of the difficulty level of different sections.

Hello Bosco, Knowing what to LEAVE is as important as attempting. Go through the question in one glance. If you feel it is an area you can attempt, then only spend time on it, else leave it for later. For example, I wasn't very comfortable with probability concepts, so I would leave those questions to be attempted in the end, after all the 'sure' ones are done. Again, practice is the key, and in the remaining time, practise these sections from your mock test package.

Yes, 3 tests are ideal for the 10 days, with time in between for analysis and revision. A day before the exam, just revise your notes/list of formulae. Adequate rest is also very important that day. No revision at all on the morning of the exam.

how to build scores in rc??

    02:39 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Bosco, RCs are again, to be attempted only after a quick glance through the passage. It is not necessary to attempt all the questions related to one RC. Accuracy becomes very, very important in RCs. In the remaining time, try setting a timer and reading newspaper passages. It helps to build up reading and grasping speed.

Hey Bhawna, In the last 10 days, take 3 tests at max. You need time for analysis, revision and most importantly, rest. Let your brain gather all the information in a retentive way. RCs are to be attempted only after a quick glance through the passage. It is not necessary to attempt all the questions related to one RC. Accuracy becomes very, very important in RCs. In the remaining time, try setting a timer and reading newspaper passages. It helps to build up reading and grasping speed.

Hey Bosco, I wouldn't suggest leave it in its entirety. But yes, it is great to know your weakness. Give the question a glance, if you think you can give it a shot (for example, questions on angles are usually easier than those on length calculation), the go ahead. else skip it for later, once the more sure shot questions are done.

    02:47 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Devansh, The percentile score each year depends upon the number and difficulty level of the paper. Accuracy is the biggest key, and attempt only 'sure' questions in order to hike up your percentile.

Hey Arun, Please do not judge the paper according to someone else's perception. The other person's strength and weakness might very well be different. The question paper-setters equally distribute 'easy' and 'tough' questions in all the papers. There are also methods like normalisation, which take care of the difficulty level. Rest assured, the system is very fair and nobody loses out because of their slot of exam. Worst case, somebody might even be trying to dishearten you on theD-day thriugh such news, which has no veracity. It is a rat race ultimately :)

Hi aastha! I am bewildered! Wat to do in these last days! As IIFT is also round the corner, and then CAT, what should be the effective strategy from now on? Should I give emphasis on solving mocks and analysing those, or should I revise old mocks and practice? Also DI-LR score is still not satisfactory. I am unable to solve more than 6 sets. Shall I revise all the mocks again, or take sectionals for DI-LR? Please advise!

Hello Aman, Please keep calm, and trust your preparation and memory. It all comes back, trust me. In these last few days, make notes of key formulae/concepts etc in your own handwriting, in a language you are the most comfortable with. Revise it before going to bed. It helps retain those concepts. I suggest you do not forgo taking tests altogether. Take around 3 mocks in the remaining time, since exam temperament and concentration level is a very important thing. The actual exam environment is kind of simulated through mocks, so it is advisable to tune your mind and body to exam conditions. Having said that, analysis is equally important. Spend time each day identifying your strength and weakness areas. Take sectionals for DI-LR if that is the major problem area. It all boils down to two things: Practice and Accuracy. You do not need to solve all the sets, if the ones you are doing are 100% correct. Give an overall glance to the question. If you feel you can give it a shot, then only go ahead. Else leave it for later.

Hello Rajat, Some tests are intentionally tougher, just to give you a feel. Remember, your percentile score also depends on the number of people taking the test, which is not the same in case of mocks as in the actual exam. So do not let that dishearten you. Please believe in your preparation and memory. It all comes back during the exam, trust me. In these remaining time, make notes of formulae/concepts you would like to remember, in your own handwriting, in a language most comfortable in. Revise it before going to bed. Set a timer and read newspaper passages to improve RC reading and grasping. If the mocks continue to hamper you, stop taking them. because nothing is as important as your own confidence and belief on the D day.
