Hello Sarvesh, RCs are a lot about practice. The more you practise, the better your intuition becomes. I used to time my reading habits. Set a timer and read a paragraph from the newspaper. This improves reading and grasping.

Hello Abhishek, The key is not to attempt all the questions, but to maximise your accuracy. It is not necessary to solve all the questions of all the RCs. You should judge the paragraph from its language and content in one look, to decide if you want to go ahead with it in the 1st attempt, or leave it for later. Read the RCs and attempt only those questions from each RC which you are sure of.

Hello Rashi, In these last days, practise just the RC questions in mock test packages, in case your other areas are good enough. You can also set a timer and read paragraphs from newspaper. This improves reading and grasping speed. The key is not to attempt all the questions, but to maximise your accuracy. It is not necessary to solve all the questions of all the RCs. You should judge the paragraph from its language and content in one look, to decide if you want to go ahead with it in the 1st attempt, or leave it for later. Read the RCs and attempt only those questions from each RC which you are sure of. Judging which question to LEAVE is very important.

  • Profile Picture Mohammed Shahil

Should i focus only on rc ? Ll that help to cross 90+ ?

    04:35 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Shahil, No, definitely not. The approach should not be focussed on one area alone, because one can never be sure what kind of questions might crop up in the actual exam. While one correct RC is a great way of hiking up scores, but your strategy should be multi pronged. To cross more than 90 just based on RCs is very risky, and you might miss out on some easy, sure-shot questions if you go by this method.

Hello Prakhar, Going by recent papers, questions directly based on vocabulary should not be asked. However, the exam itself is a very iffy business and one can never be sure.

    04:42 PM

Hello Sohit, The answer format does not change the approach to the question. I suggest you practise sectional mocks in the remaining time, as your intuition improves with practice. When you reach at an answer, read the solved passage in your mind. If it makes sense to you, it is usually correct.

Hello Anjali, When you reach at an answer, read the solved passage in your mind. If it makes sense to you, it is usually correct. Do not attempt if you are not very sure. Accuracy is as important as number of attempts. I suggest you practise sectional mocks in the remaining time, as your intuition improves with practice.

    04:50 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Prakhar, The option which includes almost everything in the given passage,is usually the correct one. One which has the essence of the para should be chosen. Having said that, one should be very careful in these questions. Accuracy is the key.

Speed reading Vs Comprehension. How to establish balance between these two things?

    04:51 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Sai, Comprehension is more important, since the subsequent questions are based on your understanding of the passage. Having said that, you should read the given passage in one glance and judge if you want to go ahead with it, or leave it for later. I suggest you set a timer and read newspaper passages in the remaining days. This improves both the aspects.

hello Ma'am, with only a few days remaining, what would you suggest our main focus be on, RC or Verbal?

    04:56 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Hello Swati, I suggest you should not focus on only one aspect. You should diversify the risk, as one can never be sure what would the exam bring forth, which part might be difficult. Identify which of these is your strength area, where have you scored better so far. Make notes based on analysis of mocks, in a language you are comfortable in. Also notice the tricks which have worked for you so far, and some frequently tested grammar concepts( eg, usage of preposition).

    05:13 PM

    Profile Picture Aastha Sneha

Yes, definitely. Knowing what to leave is as important as increasing the number of questions attempted. The LR section is very much practise based. The more you practice, the better your 'hunch' and speed become. In the remaining days, practise these sectional tests from the mock test packages. Also, make notes of your strengths and tricks which worked for you so far (by analysing mocks),in your own hand, in a language best comfortable in. Little tricks, but go a long way :)

Hello Rishika, The choice of magazine is heavily dependent on the genre you like, as one might lose interest. For starters, pick up any good current affairs magazine. This would also help you brush up GK and opinion before the interview rounds, and for exams where GK is asked (IIFT,XAT, etc).
