    02:31 PM

  • Profile Picture Aman Jindal

@bosco You have still got three valuable days to improve on quant. I would suggest if you find this as a weakness revise all the concepts from the books/coaching material you prepared from. I have outlined the strategy how to revise in Part- I. Also, things would be pretty fresh in your mind in the exam, if you do a comprehensive quant revision now. In the examination hall, please don't go with the mindset that I should attempt x questions to get y percentile. Just have one strategy, maximum number of correct questions in the requisite time. All the best. :) Use your next 3 days wisely.

@Abhijeet I guess 20 question should be enough. But I strongly advise not to go in with this mind-set. Your goal is to get the maximum score that you an achieve with your skill-set. Have a single-minded focus while attempting the problems, if you get it solve it else move on & visit it later. Not even a single other thought should cross your mind. Be very methodical in the examination hall just like Jason Bourne/James Bond are when on a mission :) All the Best.

@Abhijeet regarding clearing cut-off with arithmetic & mensuration, I would say it is very dicey. CAT is not like other exams like CFA, FRM where weightage of questions are fixed. It might so happen that you get very few questions from these topics & even those very tough problems. I would advise you not leave any topic in your revision even if you are not comfortable with it. Our strategy is to hope for the best & prepare for the worst.

@aakansha Regarding question selection: First attempt from those topics that you are good at. But then if you are not getting questions even of those topics, don't panic. Probably very tough questions are placed form those topics. Calmly move ahead on to other questions. Further quant questions are not very long, so it won't take you more than 20-25 seconds to read one. So even if you attempt them sequentially, you can easily choose questions that you are comfortable with as you move along. A idiosyncratic thing that I used to do was to attempt the paper from last question onwards. Somehow I always found out easier questions were placed in the end. All the Best.

In the second round, do the questions that will take time but are solvable. In the third round do the intractable questions. All the Best.

@jyotika I would suggest dedicate 6-8 hours solely to TSD tomorrow. Read it from scratch, preferably from a new source. Probably in your old-source you are getting stuck somewhere. Study at a stretch, so that everything about TSD gets processed together. As you read along the theory also start doing example questions by hiding their solutions at first. I sincerely hope that this fresh perspective would resolve any logical bottlenecks you have about TSD. All the Best.

@Saurav that depends if your revision for the rest of the syllabus is complete. If it is done & dusted, I would strongly advise you to spend an entire day on functions and graph. Would certainly boost your score. All the Best.

@Amit & Amit (Kumar & Chauhan) The lesser the questions, the more difficult they are. In my experience, for CAT I have found percentiles varying widely with attempts. Thus placing a decent attempt for x percentile is difficult. Having said that I have one observation across entrance exams ( i have given quite a large number :P) right from my engineering days: 70-75% answers correct -> Top 1 percentile. All the Best. May both the Amits land in the top 1% :)

@unknown whose quant is deteriorating. Check which topics are going wrong. It is a very low probability that you are messing up all the topics together. Find out the common patterns in your errors. Resolve them by having a fresh look at the weaker topics. Follow it up with an in-depth revision of full quant. I am sure you will be able to resolve your issue. Just don't panic & calmly look for the patterns in you errors. All the Best. :)

    03:21 PM

  • Profile Picture Aman Jindal

@Harsh do the maximum possible you can. If 40-44 questions turn up, you should atleast try to do breach the 30 mark. But having said that don't compromise accuracy for speed. Just have one mantra: maximum possible correct with due diligence for each question attempted. All the Best :)

@Samridhi tomorrow for the entire day try writing all the important formulas over a piece of paper. In the first round, write them by copying. Then second time only look those ones which you can't remember. Do this repeatedly. I suggest at-least 10 times, each time afresh on a separate piece of paper. I hope by the end of the day you will be able to recall many of them. Also at the end of the day, besides the formula also write its uses. All the Best. :)
